Lost your important files and folders from your hard disk? Are you looking for a safe backup of your files in a different folder or in a USB drive or a different PC. Then this tips will help you. All you need a USB drive which I dont think not a big investment. The software is called Sync Toy and you can download it from Microsoft Web site. Syn Toy will help you to sync your data from Hard disk to another Hard disk or USB drive. Its fairly a simple operation.
Download Sync Toy and install it. Run Sync Toy from the Start Menu. Create a Folder Pair.
Choose a Left Folder ( folder in hard disk) and a Right Folder (on USB Drive or network folder)
There are three ways of synchronisation which are
- Synchronize: Two Way Synchronization (left to right as well as right to left).
- Echo: Transfer happens Left to Right. Renames and Deletes are also synced from left to right.
- Contribute: Left to Right Syncing. Renames are done on right with left as the source. No Deletions occur.
It is in fact a simple process just Run once you create the pair and you are through. I regularly update one one folder in my hard drive in my office PC and i wante to work with these folder at my home. I just sync with Sync Toy and carry my USB HDD and it also keeps the data in three places. So no data loss. There are other methods also available like online sync, but that will cost you some $$.
