Install Ubuntu inside windows 7

Ubuntu is one of the popular desktop Linux Operating System. Ubuntu can be installed in any Desktop PC or Laptop.  Installing another OS in a PC or laptop is some times tricky. For a normal user this may be risky process. But now there is a tool called wubi, with which to install ubuntu is really a simple process.  Instead of having to repartition hard drives so that you can install Ubuntu, the Wubi allows you to install it in Windows. This will be helpful for those of you who are Windows users that want to try a fully functional version of Linux on your computer.

What’s great is that it’s installed almost like a program in Windows, so if you don’t like it, you can just uninstall it like any other program. Let us see how you can install Ubuntu with wubi

1. Boot your Windows PC, now insert the Ubuntu Live disc in to your CD/DVD Drive. In autoplay options you’ll prompted to run Wubi.exe, start that application.

2. Select the second option ‘Install inside Windows’ from the list of options.

3.Then select the installation profile, select the partition which have at least 5GB of disk space, select installation type, give username & password and then click Install.

4. Now wait while Ubuntu installs, give a reboot to your system and then you will see the option to boot in to Ubuntu or windows.

5. You can uninstall Ubuntu any time you want, direct from the Windows 7 ->Control Panel, go to Program and Features and uninstall it.

While Wubi may be installed in Windows, you don’t actually run it from Windows. It is like an actual install of Linux in that you have to restart your computer and choose which operating system you would like to boot.

There are a few problems with a Wubi install that you should know about before you install. Because Wubi is installed within Windows, you may see a decrease in performance in both Windows and Linux after a short while. The solution is easily fixed, but can get quite annoying after a while. All you need to do is defrag your hard drive.
