How to add twitter and Facebook in Gmail

Google buzz is a social networking feature along with gmail.  Google wanted to tap the millions of gmail users to get into the real time conversation like what twitter and facebook is doing now. With the introduction of buzz Google, added one more important feature in their already developing Google ecosystem. Here is the step by step guide to add twitter and facebook accounts into your gmail.

1. Log in to gmail account and look for google lab button next to your email id displayed

2. At the bottom of the list you can see Activate “Add any gadget by URL” . Now Click Enable

3. Now go to Settings –> Gadgets. You’ll find a place to add Gadget URLs

Add the TwitterGadget, a fully-functional Twitter service for iGoogle and Gmail. This lets you  tweet from the sidebar or open up your Twitter like your inbox. It also supports multiple accounts. Just copy and paste this URL into Gmail’s Gadget settings: “https://twittergadget.appspot.com/gadget-gmail.xml” like shown below

You can see your twitter gadget on left side bar. Just click to Twitter badge, all your tweets will show up..cool..rite?

4.  To Add the Facebook Gadget. In the same way you added TwitterGadget, you can add Facebook to your Gmail. Here i am using Facebook Gadget by iBruno. There are  couple of other gadgets for Facebook for that search in your iGoogle. But i feel this is the best for easy FB management at least you can expand like twitter as shown.

To add the FB gadget copy and paste this link into the gadget area, same way what you did with twitter. add this url  ”http://hosting.gmodules.com/ig/gadgets/file/104971404861070329537/facebook.xml

Facebook and twitter asks your permission to allow or deny the API access by login into twitter and facebook. That’s it! Two of top socialites are in your gmail!.

You dont need to login to twitter or facebook for all the updates. You may expect a large number of cross platform APIs in coming days. Just sitting in gmail you have access all of your social updates, emails from others sites can access. Google is building their google ecosystem and we will have to wait for more innovative applications from google. Please share your experiences.  Cheers ! :)
